The Killing Joke

Quite frankly, I think it's worth far more than the asking price.

The $17.99 price tag is kinda hefty for a slim hardcover like this, but the new coloring — by artist Brian Bolland himself — on DC’s just-released Killing Joke Anniversary Edition is really impressive! Check the scans below and you’ll notice that the new coloring is often a subtractive process, making everything look less gaudy and more refined. Interestingly, the yellow oval on the Bat logo has been removed everywhere.

I might just have to buy this (especially since I gave my copy away years ago…)!

Red Planet; Blue Planet?

Just days after discovering ice on Mars, scientists stumble upon morning dew
When it rains, it pours: Photo by NASA

A couple of days ago, it was big news when ice was found on Mars. Now, an upcoming study in the journal Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta claims that the Martian environment was once wet enough to produce morning dew. This finding runs counter to the more widely accepted view that liquid water on Mars seeped up from the ground, rather than falling from the sky as precipitation.

No Superhighway!

by Ron Paul

I am pleased to report that last week we received notice that the Texas Department of Transportation will recommend the I-69 Project be developed using existing highway facilities instead of the proposed massive new Trans Texas Corridor/NAFTA Superhighway. According to the Texas Transportation Commissioner, consideration is no longer being given to new corridors and other proposals for a new highway footprint for this project. A major looming threat to property rights and national sovereignty is removed with this encouraging announcement.

Added to the list of things we should be aware of so that we may somehow "fix" what we've broke:

Wild Bee Swarms in New Jersey Spur Hope of Rebound

By Joseph Galante

June 26 (Bloomberg) -- Seth Belson remembers getting a phone call last month asking him to remove a bee swarm the size of a Volkswagen from a man's front yard in Merchantville, New Jersey.

The beekeeper found a mass of bees towering 50 feet (15 meters) above the ground. There was nothing he could do but wait for them to move on, he said.
